OTHER DISTROS YOU CAN TRY ------------------------- Here are some of the distros you can consider. You will have to download the one you want and save it on the HDD of your PC as explained in the main text: StartOS: The successor of Ylmf OS; it also has an interface that is like Windows, so it is easy to get used to. As mentioned in the main text, this is a Chinese OS, but it has a built-in English version. As soon as it starts up press F2 and select English. (Download: http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/ylmf). There is a long explanation with a script in the above link for making the boot-up exclusively English, but if you are like me, you will probably prefer to stick to the F2 option. The OS itself is really good. ChaletOS - Also like basic Windows, so you will be quite at home with it. (Download: https://sites.google.com/site/chaletoslinux/download). Bodhi - A very nice, friendly, well designed distro, but a little more like a Mac than a Windows PC (Download: http://www.bodhilinux.com/download/) also read: http://www.bodhilinux.com/w/selecting-the-correct-iso-image/ Pinguy OS - Like Bhodi, it is also a very well developed distro. It has two versions. The Full version is packed with every possible application that you will need. The Mini version has much fewer applications. (Download: http://pinguyos.com/download/). Choose the 32-bit version. Macbuntu - We shouldn't leave the Mac people out ... This interface makes Mac users feel at home (Download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/macbuntu-iso/files/). I recommend the macbuntu1104.iso download for any Windows PC Lucid Puppy - Another of my favourite distros. It is also one of the smallest - 132 MB compared to the 700MG to 2GB for the above six. Don't let its size fool you. It is packed with the most useful tools and applications, besides being very user friendly. (Download: http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppy526). Download the latest version of Lucid Puppy from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ndza54d2babdzua/lupu-5.2.8.7-20150702.iso NOTE: Wherever you find that both 64-bit and 32-bit versions are available, I recommend downloading the 32-bit version for USB drive use. It will be accepted by any PC. The 64-bit version can be used if you want to do the installation on a specific 64-bit compatible PC.
